AAS Electronic Publications
AAS Electronic Publications
This page provides a forum in which papers of interest to Members of the Society, members of the profession more generally, and those working in related fields, can be made available. Its aim is to provide a service to members of the Society and the profession by enabling the work to be widely available to interested readers, in keeping with the principles of ‘open access’ publishing.
It is intended that there will be two categories of material published on this site.
The first category, 'AAS material' comprises papers that have been written for various AAS-sponsored or AAS-linked events (the Annual Conference, workshops etc) but have not as yet been published elsewhere. Paper givers at such events have the option of sending them to the convenor of the panel or workshop where it was presented, who will ensure they meet minimal standards before sending them to the Society’s E Publications officer for posting on this site.
The second category, 'published material' comprises papers that have already been published. The criteria to be met for such a paper to be published on this site are:
(a) that the author is a Member of the Society;
(b) that the topic of the paper be broadly of anthropological interest;
(c) that the paper has already been published in a scholarly journal, monograph or book, or in the popular press, or accepted for publication in such a location; and
(d) that the author provides proof, through a letter or email from the publisher, that they give their permission for the publication to be made available on this website.
In the case of articles already submitted and accepted for publication, the version to be published on this site may be the ‘pre-print’ version which has already been peer reviewed, but is not in the final copy edited and published form.
For further information, or to submit an article for publication on this site, contact the Society at aas@anu.edu.au.
