About TAJA

The Australian Journal of Anthropology (TAJA) publishes scholarly papers and book reviews in anthropology and related disciplines. Though wide ranging in its areas of interest, the journal especially welcomes theoretically focused analyses and ethnographic reports based on fieldwork carried out in Australia and neighbouring countries in the Pacific and Asian regions.

TAJA is published three times a year (April, August and December) and at least one issue per annum is devoted to a specific topic under the direction of a guest editor.

Early view articles are available via the Early View link.

At the beginning of  2019 TAJA underwent a change in editorial management. The AAS welcomes a new team from Western Sydney University, Andrew McWilliam (Editor), Kathleen Openshaw (Managing Editor), and Geir Presterudstuen (Review editor). We thank outgoing editor Michael Goddard and the previous publication team for their excellent work on the journal. The new team  look forward to continuing to publish high quality ethnographic articles and reviews that are of contemporary interest to the discipline.
