The AAS is seeking nominations for four positions on the Executive Committee: President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer and Ordinary Director.
Each year the AAS calls for nominations to fill positions on the Society’s Executive Committee. This is a fabulous opportunity to get more centrally involved in your discipline - shaping the Society’s activities and providing representation on matters of significance to anthropology.
The AAS Executive is made up of a diverse, energetic and collegial bunch of early career and senior anthropologists from across the country. We meet virtually once every two to three months and (circumstances allowing) in person at least once a year. Every year we’re involved in core activities such as helping to arrange the annual conference and AGM, organising the award of various AAS prizes and grants, and disseminating information to our members. We’re regularly involved with other activities too, such as submissions to government over matters where anthropological perspectives can make a real difference.
Joining the Executive is a great way to forge connections with anthropologists outside your institution and disciplinary focus. It helps to build your CV by demonstrating your commitment and service to the discipline. And it allows you to have a greater influence over the ways we teach, research and practice anthropology today.
So whether you’re an early career or senior anthropologist, whether you’re based at a university or elsewhere, consider nominating for a position on the Executive.
To be eligible to nominate you need to be a member of the Society (or a Fellow to nominate for President Elect or Secretary), so if you’re interested but you’re not currently a member, you can apply for membership on the AAS website (note there is a review process for membership applications, so allow reasonable time for your application to be processed).
This year we are seeking nominations to fill four positions: President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer and Ordinary Director.
