We express our deep concerns about the devastating incidents in Israel and Gaza in October 2023. We stand against the kidnapping of civilians and the bombing of civilian residential areas, hospitals, and universities. We express solidarity with Israeli and Palestinian scholars, activists, and students upholding human rights. We condemn Islamophobic and Antisemitic words and actions in Australia and beyond.

The AAS is seeking EOIs from an Australian university to host the 2024 AAS Annual Conference.

The Annual Conference is one of the Society’s core activities, and allows for the AAS community to convene, exchange ideas, engage with contemporary debates in the field, and celebrate achievements in the discipline. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) also takes place during the annual conference.

Each year the AAS calls for nominations to fill positions on the Society’s Executive Committee. This is a fabulous opportunity to get more centrally involved in your discipline—shaping the Society’s activities and providing representation on matters of significance to anthropology.
